About Me

Most people reading this blog know me as a witty, charming young belle from the Midwest. For those of you unfamiliar, welcome!

I am Amanda Arand (I hope you've picked that up already), woman of letters and Peace Corps Volunteer currently serving in Kampong Saom province in soutwest Cambodia. The purpose of this blog is to keep my friends and family updated about my progress...and to entertain all who stumble upon it. For bonus points, it helps me keep track of my own workings, serving as a sort of an online public journal, where I can continue to think in English during these crazy Khmer times.

Before embarking on this journey, I was a student at the University of Denver, Indiana University, and Tulane University where I studied history and neuroscience among other illustrious subjects. I was also born and raised in the Chicagoland area and am a proud Hoosier. That information may or may not explain some references in my blogs, as well as any over-the-top cream and crimson clothing in my photos.

For any questions/comments/concerns/praises/illusions, please email me (amanda.arand@gmail.com) or comment on the blogs. Thanks to all and don't forget to forgo rice at your first opportunity in my honor. :)
